Location: Thorne Hall at Occidental College
The Caltech-Occidental Wind Orchestra, directed by Dr. Glenn D. Price presents "Marches and Metamorphoses - from Paul Hindemith to Wayne Bergeron".
Featured artist Wayne Bergeron is a "household name" in the musical world, having earned a singular reputation as one of the great jazz, studio and solo musicians of today. From his early days as lead trumpet with the Maynard Ferguson Big Band, to his recent recordings as solo trumpet on films ranging from The Incredibles to La La Land, he has been sought out for his special abilities that have brought him to the forefront of the profession. Having recorded over 400 television and film soundtracks, he has also appeared with top international orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Cleveland Orchestra. He has been a featured clinician and soloist around the world, and we are very pleased to be able to feature him as our guest soloist.
The program will include international marches from Spain and Norway, trumpet features by Mendez, Gershwin and Giacchino, plus Hindemith's epic work "Symphonic Metamorphosis of Themes by von Weber." Also featured will be the Caltech Clarinet Choir and the Caltech "Slide Rule" Trombone Choir.
Admission is free and no tickets are required. For more information, visit bands.caltech.edu or call (626) 395-3295.
